Lee Playlot Park, Chicago, IL

Lee Playlot Park occupies a full city block in Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood, bounded by West Oakdale Avenue, North Seminary Avenue, West Wellington Avenue, and North Greenview Avenue. The 2.4-acre rectangular site contains a fenced, rubber-surfaced playground with swings, slides, and climbing structures, a full-size synthetic-turf baseball diamond, two lighted tennis courts, and a small fieldhouse that provides restrooms and storage. A perimeter walking loop paved in asphalt measures roughly 0.4 miles and accommodates pedestrians and joggers; mature oak and maple trees shade the loop on three sides. The park is bordered on the west by the CTA Brown Line Wellington station, allowing residents a three-minute walk to rapid transit, and is two blocks east of the Southport Corridor retail district along North Southport Avenue. Street parking is permitted on three sides of the park, and bike racks are installed at the north and south entrances.
