Levinson Park, Evanston, IL

Levinson Park occupies 6.6 acres at the corner of Maple Avenue and Lake Street in Evanston. The park contains a lighted baseball diamond, two full-size basketball courts, a playground with separate areas for toddlers and older children, and a small picnic shelter with tables and grills. A paved walking loop circles the perimeter, and the central lawn is large enough for informal field sports. Mature oaks and maples provide shade along the edges, while the open interior remains sunny. The park sits three blocks south of the Central Street Metra station and one block west of the Central Street business district, where grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants are located. Bike racks are provided at both entrances, and on-street parking is permitted on the surrounding residential streets. During summer months the Evanston Recreation Department schedules youth baseball games and occasional movie nights on the lawn.
