Lone Tree Park, Mundelein, IL

Lone Tree Park covers 40 acres in central Mundelein and is bordered by the Des Plaines River on its eastern edge. The park’s paved multi-use trail connects directly to the 30-mile Des Plaines River Trail, allowing residents to reach nearby communities or Lake County Forest Preserves without driving. Inside the park, visitors find two lighted tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, two playgrounds with rubber surfacing, and two picnic shelters with grills and electrical outlets. A 3.2-acre off-leash dog area is fenced, double-gated, and supplied with waste stations and potable water. The park also contains two baseball/softball diamonds, a football field, and an 18-hole disc-golf course that winds through mature oak and hickory woodland. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and a 120-space parking lot are located near the main entrance on Midlothian Road. Mundelein’s Metra station and IL Route 83 are less than two miles away, providing quick access to downtown Chicago and regional shopping centers.
