Lyle C. Thomas Memorial Park sits on the south edge of Richmond and covers 66 acres of open space and wooded areas. A 1.2-mile paved loop trail circles the park and connects to the adjacent Glacial Trail, giving residents a direct route for walking, jogging, or cycling. The park includes four lighted tennis courts, two baseball diamonds with bleachers, a playground with updated equipment, and two picnic shelters that can be reserved through the Richmond Township Park District. A 12-acre fishing pond is stocked seasonally, and a boat launch allows small watercraft. The grounds also contain a disc golf course and open fields used for soccer and football practice. The park lies less than two miles from the Route 12 corridor, placing grocery stores, restaurants, and the Metra station in McHenry within a short drive.
