Margreth Riemer Reservoir Park, Palatine, IL

Margreth Riemer Reservoir Park covers 90 acres in northwest Palatine, centered on a 27-acre reservoir stocked for catch-and-release fishing. Anglers access the water from a 300-foot fishing pier and two shoreline platforms, while non-motorized boats and kayaks launch from a concrete ramp. A 2.2-mile crushed-limestone loop trail circles the reservoir and connects to the 8.5-mile Palatine Trail, allowing residents to bike or walk to downtown without using major roads. Picnic shelters, playgrounds, and a sand-volleyball court sit near the main parking lot, and a fenced dog-exercise area is located on the north side. Mowed turf and scattered oak groves provide open views of the water and skyline of nearby office buildings. The park lies within a half-mile of both the Metra Northwest Line station and Illinois Route 53, giving commuters direct access to downtown Chicago and the surrounding retail corridor along Rand Road.
