Megowen Park, Evanston, IL

Megowen Park sits between the North Shore Channel Trail and the residential blocks of northeast Evanston. The 14-acre green space features two lighted baseball diamonds, four tennis courts, a soccer field, and a playground with modern equipment. A paved loop path circles the park, connecting directly to the regional trail that runs south toward Lincolnwood and north toward Wilmette. Mature trees shade the open lawns, and the park’s central location places residents within two blocks of Central Street’s shops and restaurants and within a ten-minute walk of the Central Street Metra station. The adjacent Channel Trail offers a flat, car-free route for cyclists and runners that extends for miles along the water. Street parking surrounds the park, and restrooms are available in the field house during scheduled hours.
