Messenger Marsh Forest Preserve, Homer Glen, IL

Messenger Marsh Forest Preserve spans over 400 acres in Homer Glen and includes more than seven miles of trails used by hikers, cyclists, and equestrians. The preserve features a mix of tallgrass prairie, oak woodlands, and wetlands that support native wildlife and seasonal wildflowers. A fishing pond stocked with bass and bluegill sits near the main parking area, and an archery range provides a designated space for practice. Picnic shelters and restrooms are available near the trailheads. The preserve connects directly to the Old Plank Road Trail, allowing users to reach downtown New Lenox or continue toward the I&M Canal. Its location off 159th Street places it within a short drive of several large retail centers and the Metra Rock Island District line at 153rd Street in Orland Park.
