Moraine Woods Park, Streamwood, IL

Moraine Woods Park occupies 55 acres in central Streamwood and features a 1.6-mile paved loop trail that circles the park’s central pond. The trail surface accommodates pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists, and the outer edge connects directly to the 8.5-mile Poplar Creek Trail, allowing longer rides or walks without driving. Anglers with valid Illinois licenses may fish the pond year-round for bass, bluegill, and catfish. Picnic shelters equipped with grills and electrical outlets are available by reservation, and restrooms remain open from April through October. A fenced playground with rubber surfacing and separate climbing structures for different age groups sits near the main parking lot. The park’s terrain is mostly flat, with scattered mature oak and hickory trees providing shade along the water’s edge. Two additional parking areas—one on the east side along Schaumburg Road and one on the south side—reduce congestion on weekends. Because the park is bordered by residential streets and a Metra station two blocks away, residents can reach downtown Chicago in roughly 45 minutes by train without using a car for daily errands.
