Needles Park sits on the northwest edge of Dolton, bordered by the Cal-Sag Channel and the Canadian National rail line. A paved loop trail follows the channel for roughly one mile, linking directly to the Burnham Greenway and giving cyclists and joggers access to the larger regional trail system. The park’s 35 acres include a lighted baseball diamond, two lighted tennis courts, a playground, and a small picnic grove with grills. A fishing pier extends into the channel, where anglers target bass and panfish under the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ urban fishing program. The site’s flat terrain and open sight lines also make it a regular stop for local birders tracking waterfowl and shorebirds along the flyway. Street parking is available along Parkside Drive, and Metra’s Electric Line station at 147th Street is a six-block walk, providing commuters a direct route to downtown Chicago.
