New Holmes Park sits on the south side of Harvey, offering residents direct access to a 1.3-mile paved loop trail that circles the park’s central lagoon. The trail connects to nearby sidewalks along 147th Street, allowing walkers, runners, and cyclists to continue toward the Cal-Sag Trail system. The park’s 42 acres include three lighted baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, and a playground with poured-in-place surfacing. A fishing pier extends into the lagoon, which is stocked seasonally by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Picnic shelters with grills and restrooms are available by reservation through the Harvey Park District. The park is adjacent to the Harvey Public Library and the Harvey Transportation Center, providing Metra Electric Line service to downtown Chicago in approximately 35 minutes. Street parking surrounds the grounds, and the site is bordered by mature trees that provide shade along the trail and fields.
