Oakwood Park occupies 30 acres in the southwest quadrant of Lansing and is bordered by Oakwood Avenue on the east and Thornton-Lansing Road on the south. A paved loop trail circles the park’s central lake, providing a flat 0.8-mile route used by walkers and joggers. The lake is stocked annually with channel catfish and rainbow trout, and the adjacent fishing pier is open year-round during daylight hours. Two lighted tennis courts and four pickleball courts sit near the main parking lot, while a fenced playground with rubber surfacing and climbing structures is located on the west side. Picnic shelters equipped with grills and electrical outlets can be reserved through the Lansing Park District. The park is adjacent to the Thorn Creek Forest Preserve, whose 300-acre trail network connects directly to Oakwood Park’s southern entrance. The nearby Torrence Avenue corridor supplies grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants within a five-minute drive.
