Park No. 437, Chicago, IL

Park No. 437 occupies a compact four-acre site on Chicago’s northwest side, bounded by residential blocks and served by the 74 Fullerton bus. A half-mile asphalt loop winds around the park’s central lawn, used daily by joggers and cyclists who enter through entrances at Laramie and Lockwood avenues. Two lighted tennis courts sit near the western edge, while a fenced playground equipped with swings, slides, and climbing structures occupies the southeast corner. A regulation-size soccer field occupies the northern half of the lawn, marked for both youth and adult league play. Mature maples and honey locusts provide shade along the perimeter walk, and a small parking lot adjacent to the field house offers roughly twenty striped spaces. The field house contains restrooms and a reservable multipurpose room. A dog-friendly area with separate small- and large-dog sections lies just south of the parking lot, enclosed by four-foot fencing and equipped with waste stations. The park is two blocks south of the Cicero branch of the Chicago Public Library and one block west of a commercial strip that includes a grocery store and pharmacy.
