Park No. 500 occupies 8.5 acres at 500 W. 31st Street in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. The park includes a 1.3-mile crushed-stone loop trail that circles the central lawn and connects to the 606 Trail via a direct spur. A playground with poured-in-place rubber surfacing, two lighted baseball diamonds, and four tennis courts with windscreens sit along the northern edge. Restrooms and a field house with drinking fountains remain open year-round. Mature cottonwood and oak trees line the western boundary, providing shade for picnickers at the six fixed grills and adjacent tables. The park sits two blocks from the CTA Orange Line’s Ashland station and one block from Halsted Street’s retail corridor, placing grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants within a five-minute walk. On-street permit parking surrounds the perimeter, and a Divvy bike-share station is located at the main entrance.
