Parker Fen Nature Preserve in Woodstock, Illinois, offers 160 acres of preserved wetlands, prairie, and oak woodland that provide direct access to outdoor recreation. A 1.2-mile loop trail winds through sedge meadow and restored tallgrass prairie, passing two elevated observation decks that overlook fen wetlands and seasonal wildflowers. The preserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset with free parking at the main entrance off Route 14. Visitors can hike, birdwatch, and photograph native species including sandhill cranes and monarch butterflies. The preserve sits three miles from downtown Woodstock, where residents can reach the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line station, Route 47 commercial corridor, and several grocery stores within a ten-minute drive.
