Peregrine Park, Palatine, IL

Peregrine Park covers 53 acres along the Des Plaines River in Palatine. Its paved loop trail connects to the 20-mile Des Plaines River Trail, giving residents direct access to longer bike rides and runs. The park’s three lighted ball fields host youth baseball and adult softball leagues, while two lighted tennis courts and a sand-volleyball area stay open until 10 p.m. A 4-acre off-leash dog park is divided into separate zones for large and small dogs, complete with water stations and shaded benches. Picnic shelters, grills, and a playground sit within view of the river, and a short boardwalk leads to a fishing pier. The park is bordered by single-family neighborhoods on two sides and is less than a mile from downtown Palatine’s Metra station, grocery stores, and restaurants.
