Red Gate Park, St. Charles, IL

Red Gate Park spans 40 acres along the Fox River in St. Charles and offers residents direct access to the Fox River Trail, a paved 40-mile route used by cyclists and runners. The park includes four lighted tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, six baseball and softball diamonds, and a fully accessible playground. A 22-acre fishing lake stocked with largemouth bass and channel catfish provides year-round angling, while a separate 3-acre pond is designated for catch-and-release trout fishing during scheduled seasons. Picnic shelters with grills and restrooms are available for reservation, and a 2.3-mile network of crushed-stone paths loops through restored prairie and oak woodland. The park sits less than two miles from downtown St. Charles shops and restaurants and is adjacent to the St. Charles Park District Sportsplex, which houses an indoor pool and fitness center.
