Riis Park sits on 56 acres at the intersection of Narragansett and Wrightwood Avenues on Chicago’s Northwest Side. The park’s central feature is a 1.3-mile paved loop trail that circles the park’s interior and connects to the larger 312 RiverRun trail system. Visitors can use two lighted baseball diamonds, a football/soccer field, an outdoor swimming pool open from June to August, and six tennis courts. A playground with rubber surfacing and a spray feature is located near the field house, which also contains restrooms and a gymnasium. Mature oak and maple trees line the park’s edges, providing shade for picnickers and shade along the walking paths. The park is bordered on the north by the Chicago River’s North Branch, offering occasional views of the water from the trail. CTA bus routes 72 and 86 stop within two blocks, and the Metra Milwaukee District/West line at Grand/Cicero station is a ten-minute drive, giving residents multiple transit options for commuting.
