Sandholm Woods Park, Geneva, IL

Sandholm Woods Park spans 64 acres in west Geneva, featuring more than two miles of crushed-limestone trails that wind through oak-hickory woodland and along a tributary of Mill Creek. The park’s main loop connects directly to the Illinois Prairie Path, giving residents a continuous route for walking or cycling to downtown Geneva or St. Charles without driving. Two playgrounds with modern equipment sit near the parking area, while open turf fields accommodate casual soccer and frisbee. A restored wetland boardwalk provides elevated views of native grasses and seasonal wildflowers. Picnic shelters with grills are scattered along the creek, and a small fishing pond is stocked annually by the Forest Preserve District. The park is bordered on three sides by established residential neighborhoods, so most homes within a half-mile reach the entrance on foot or by bicycle in under ten minutes.
