Settlers Park, Elgin, IL

Settlers Park occupies 80 acres in northwest Elgin and serves as a central green space for local residents. The park includes two lighted baseball diamonds, a soccer field, and six tennis courts. A playground with modern equipment and a spray pad is located near the parking area. A paved 1.2-mile loop trail circles the perimeter, connecting to the Fox River Trail for longer rides or runs. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and drinking fountains are spaced along the path. Open fields and mature trees provide shade in summer and windbreaks in winter. The park lies three miles from downtown Elgin and within two miles of Route 20, giving residents quick access to grocery stores, restaurants, and the Metra station. During winter months, the open fields are used for sledding when snow cover is adequate.
