Shadow Creek Park offers Harvard residents a 35-acre natural area with direct trail access to the 2.3-mile Glacial Park trail system. The park features a 12-acre retention pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing, two picnic shelters with electrical service, and a playground designed for ages 2–12. A 1.2-mile crushed-limestone loop circles the pond, while a separate 0.6-mile paved spur connects to downtown Harvard via Route 14. Mature oak and hickory woodland provides shade along the northern edge, and the park’s open fields host seasonal soccer and youth baseball programs through the Harvard Parks and Recreation Department. Restrooms and drinking fountains operate from April through October. The park’s location, three blocks north of the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line station, places residents within a 75-minute rail commute to Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center.
