Shady Oaks Park, Streamwood, IL

Shady Oaks Park occupies 25 acres along the west branch of Poplar Creek in Streamwood. A 1.2-mile paved trail loops through the park and connects to the 9-mile Poplar Creek Trail, allowing residents to reach nearby Forest Preserve District sites without driving. The park includes two lighted ball fields, four tennis courts, a basketball court, and a playground with rubberized surfacing. Picnic shelters, grills, and restrooms are available near the main parking lot. The creek corridor supports a stand of mature oaks and hickories that shade the trail and provide seasonal color. The Streamwood Park District schedules youth baseball, tennis lessons, and summer day-camp programs at the park. The site is bordered by residential subdivisions on three sides, so most homes within a half-mile walk have direct access via neighborhood sidewalks.
