Sonoma Park spans 28 acres along the northern edge of Lake Zurich and includes two soccer fields, a playground with modern climbing structures, and two lighted tennis courts. A 1.3-mile paved loop trail circles the park and connects directly to the 6.5-mile Lake Zurich trail system, allowing residents to reach Paulus Park and downtown Lake Zurich on foot or by bicycle without using major roads. The park’s open meadows and stands of mature oaks provide unobstructed western views of sunsets over the lake. Restroom facilities, drinking fountains, and a 60-space parking lot sit near the main entrance on Cuba Road, 0.4 miles from the Route 12 interchange and 1.2 miles from the Metra station. Picnic shelters and grills are available by reservation through the Lake Zurich Park District, and the fields are maintained for both league play and casual use.
