Sparrow Ridge Park, Lake Zurich, IL

Sparrow Ridge Park in Lake Zurich covers 23 acres of open space and wooded terrain in the village’s western residential section. A 1.8-mile paved loop trail circles the park and connects to the 5.5-mile Old McHenry Trail, giving residents direct access to a larger regional path network for walking, running, and cycling. The park contains two playgrounds with modern equipment, two full-size baseball fields, four lighted tennis courts, and a basketball court. Picnic shelters, grills, and restrooms are centrally located near a 3-acre pond used for catch-and-release fishing. Mature oak and hickory trees provide shade along the trails and around the open lawns, while native plantings along the shoreline help stabilize the water’s edge. The park sits less than a mile from downtown Lake Zurich shops and restaurants via Rand Road, and the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line station is a five-minute drive away.
