St. Mihiel Forest Preserve spans 240 acres of oak-hickory woodland in southern Oak Forest. The preserve contains a 2.4-mile crushed-limestone trail that loops through mature timber and past an 8-acre retention pond stocked with bluegill and largemouth bass. Anglers can fish from the shoreline or a small wooden dock, while a separate 1.1-mile spur connects to the I&M Canal Trail for longer bicycle rides. Picnic shelters, grills, and restrooms sit near the main parking area on 167th Street, and a fenced dog-friendly meadow is located 200 yards south of the lot. The preserve borders the Midlothian Reservoir and lies less than three miles from Interstate 57, giving residents direct access to both open space and regional travel routes. Seasonal wildflowers line the trail edges in spring, and the canopy turns red and gold each October.
St. Mihiel Forest Preserve currently has 3 single family homes for sale. For anyone looking for a brand new home, there are 2 new construction homes for sale.
