Sunnyside Park, Woodstock, IL

Sunnyside Park occupies 28 acres in Woodstock’s southwest quadrant and serves as the city’s largest municipal park. A 1.3-mile paved loop circles the grounds, connecting a playground, two lighted ball diamonds, six tennis courts, and four pickleball courts. The park also contains two fishing ponds stocked annually by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and a disc-golf course with 18 holes that wind through stands of mature oak and hickory. Restroom buildings and drinking fountains are located at both the north and south parking lots, and the lots themselves total 180 paved spaces. The park sits three blocks from the Woodstock Square historic district and one mile from the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line station, providing commuters direct rail access to Chicago. During summer months the park hosts the city’s outdoor-movie series on Friday evenings and the farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, both utilizing the large central lawn.
