Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve, Park Forest, IL

Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve spans 900 acres across Park Forest and adjacent communities, offering more than eight miles of marked trails for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. The preserve includes a visitor center with educational exhibits, restrooms, and parking, as well as picnic shelters and an archery range. Its landscape features oak-hickory woodlands, wetlands, and open prairies along Thorn Creek, providing opportunities for bird-watching and seasonal wildflower viewing.
