Thunder Ridge Park spans 38 acres of rolling terrain in New Lenox and includes two lighted baseball fields, four lighted tennis courts, two playgrounds, and a 1.2-mile paved loop trail that circles a central detention pond. The trail connects to the Old Plank Road Trail, giving residents direct access to a 25-mile regional path system without driving. A 4,800-square-foot shelter building with restrooms and picnic tables can be reserved through the New Lenox Park District. Mature oak and hickory trees line the northern edge, providing shade along the northern segment of the trail. The park sits one mile west of the I-80 interchange at Route 30 and two miles from the Metra Rock Island District station, allowing commuters quick access to both highway and rail. A small sledding hill on the eastern side attracts winter users, and the open fields host youth soccer leagues from March through November.
