Walnut Ridge Woods is a 40-acre nature preserve in south Naperville with over two miles of crushed-granite trails that connect to the city’s larger DuPage River Trail system. The preserve contains mature oak-hickory woodland, a small pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing, and an open meadow used for informal picnicking. A playground, picnic shelter, and restrooms sit near the main parking area on 87th Street, while a secondary entrance at Wehrli Road provides direct access for nearby residents. The site is adjacent to the Naperville Sportsman’s Club archery range and roughly one mile from the 95th Street shopping corridor, the Metra BNSF station at Route 59, and Pace bus stops on 87th Street. Seasonal programs run by the Naperville Park District include guided nature walks and volunteer habitat-restoration days.
