Water Tower Prairie Park covers 38 acres in central Cary and includes a 1.3-mile crushed-stone trail that loops around restored tallgrass prairie and two small ponds. The trail connects directly to the Prairie Trail, a paved regional path that runs north–south through McHenry County and links the park to downtown Cary and the Metra station. Picnic shelters, a playground, and portable restrooms are clustered near the parking lot on Three Oaks Road, while open fields provide space for informal sports. The park sits less than a mile from the Cary-Grove Public Library and the Cary Park District’s indoor recreation center, and it is bordered on two sides by residential subdivisions, giving homeowners a direct walking route to open space without crossing major roads.
