Westfield Park, Sandwich, IL

Westfield Park occupies 50 acres in northwest Sandwich and serves as the city’s largest municipal recreation area. The park features a 1.8-mile multi-use loop trail that connects to the larger Prairie Point Trail system, allowing residents to bicycle or walk south into town or north toward Shabbona Lake State Park. A 12-acre stocked fishing pond is encircled by a paved path and includes two ADA-accessible fishing piers. Picnic shelters, restrooms, playground equipment, and lighted tennis and basketball courts are clustered near the main parking lot off North Main Street. Mature oak and hickory woodland occupies the park’s eastern edge, providing shaded walking paths and seasonal color. The park sits three blocks from U.S. Route 34, placing grocery stores, pharmacies, and the Sandwich Public Library within a five-minute drive. During summer months the Sandwich Park District schedules youth baseball and soccer leagues on the four lighted athletic fields located at the park’s south end.
