Whispering Lake Park, Hoffman Estates, IL

Whispering Lake Park in Hoffman Estates occupies 95 acres around a 35-acre spring-fed lake. A 2.2-mile paved loop trail encircles the water, connecting to additional paths that reach the Poplar Creek Forest Preserve and the Schaumburg Bikeway. The park offers two fishing piers, a non-motorized boat launch for kayaks and canoes, and a sandy beach open for swimming from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Picnic shelters, grills, and a playground sit near the main parking area, while a separate dog-exercise area provides fenced zones for pets. A restored prairie and wetland on the north shore attract waterfowl and songbirds, and the surrounding open space keeps sightlines largely free of buildings. The park entrance lies one mile south of the Higgins Road/I-90 interchange, giving residents quick access to the Prairie Stone business campus and Woodfield-area shopping without leaving Hoffman Estates.
