Wilderness Park, Mundelein, IL

Wilderness Park in Mundelein covers 450 acres of rolling terrain with a network of maintained trails used for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. The park includes three lakes that support fishing and non-motorized boating, plus an archery range and two dog parks. A 2.5-mile paved path connects the park’s northern and southern entrances, and several trailheads provide direct access from nearby residential streets. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and a playground are located near the main parking area off Midlothian Road. The park is less than three miles from downtown Mundelein’s Metra station and sits adjacent to Libertyville Township’s sports complex, allowing residents to combine park visits with organized athletic programs. Wooded sections feature oak and hickory stands, and open meadows offer unobstructed views of seasonal wildflowers and migrating birds.
