Willowbrook Forest Preserve covers 230 acres in western Glen Ellyn, featuring 3.7 miles of paved and crushed-stone trails that connect to the Illinois Prairie Path. The preserve includes a 3-acre lake stocked with bass and bluegill, a fishing pier, and two picnic shelters with grills. Its 60-acre wetland complex attracts waterfowl and supports seasonal birding, while the restored tallgrass prairie and oak-hickory woodland provide year-round color and shade. A playground, sledding hill, and winter cross-country ski rental station are located near the main parking area off Butterfield Road. The preserve sits less than two miles from downtown Glen Ellyn’s Metra station, library branch, and grocery stores, allowing residents to reach shopping and commuter rail within a five-minute drive.
