Winding Creek Park, Crystal Lake, IL

Winding Creek Park covers 22 acres along the south branch of the Kishwaukee River in Crystal Lake. The park features a 1.8-mile paved loop trail that connects to the 40-mile-long Fox River Trail system, giving residents direct access to longer cycling and walking routes. A playground with modern equipment, two full-size soccer fields, and four lighted tennis courts support year-round organized sports. Picnic shelters equipped with grills and electrical outlets can be reserved for private events, while an on-site parking lot of more than 80 spaces reduces street congestion for daily visitors. Mature oak and hickory trees provide shade along the riverbank, and a fishing pier extends over a stocked pond maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District.
