The Witkoski Recreation Center occupies a 45-acre site along the Des Plaines River in Lemont. A paved multi-use trail runs the length of the property, connecting directly to the Centennial Trail and providing a flat, 10-mile route to the I&M Canal National Heritage Corridor. Inside the center, visitors find two full-size gymnasiums, a weight room, and three multipurpose rooms that accommodate fitness classes and youth programs. Outdoors, six lighted tennis courts, two sand-volleyball courts, and a playground with separate areas for ages two-to-five and five-to-twelve sit beside an 18-hole disc-golf course. The riverfront picnic shelters and adjacent open fields offer unobstructed views of limestone bluffs and seasonal waterfowl. The center lies three miles from the BNSF Metra station and within two miles of both downtown Lemont’s shops and restaurants and the entrance to the Forest Preserve District’s Waterfall Glen preserve.
