Wolfe Wildlife Refuge spans 115 acres in south Oak Lawn and is maintained by the Oak Lawn Park District. Visitors can walk or jog on a 1.6-mile crushed-stone loop that circles restored prairie and wetland areas, and a second, shorter boardwalk trail crosses a cattail marsh where herons and ducks are frequently seen. The refuge includes two picnic shelters with tables and grills, a playground, and a small fishing pond stocked annually by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Parking is available at the 107th Street entrance and at the adjacent Oak Lawn Community Pavilion, which provides indoor restrooms and vending machines. The refuge sits less than a mile from the Metra Rock Island District line at 95th Street and is bordered by residential streets, allowing residents to reach the trails on foot or by bicycle without crossing major roads.
