Double Bridges was originally developed in 1772 as part of an overland highway to connect St. Augustine to New Smyrna. The region takes its name from two spans built unusually close together here. While there are some remnants of this British Period road, the two bridges are no longer existent, and the land is being repurposed as a private equestrian community. As an upscale planned, rural development, Double Bridges encompasses approximately 171 acres in southern St. Johns County. It is made up of twenty-four home sites which range between 2 and 10 acres lots all within a gated community. Located 15 miles south of historic St. Augustine off County Road 204 (just east of I-95 and US Highway 1), the property is bordered by Pellicer Creek to the south, and Florida Cracker Creek on the east side, and features riding trails along the perimeter of the development. Amenities include, gated community, olympic sized covered riding arena, outdoor riding area, grazing pastures, riding trails.
