27 Pines Golf Course sits on the edge of Sturgeon Bay and plays through a mix of open meadow and second-growth pine. The fairways are narrow in places and bordered by dense stands of red pine that create both windbreaks and visual corridors. Greens are small, undulating, and kept at a moderate speed that rewards precise approach shots rather than aggressive run-ups. Several holes cross low drainage swales that collect morning dew and can soften the turf after heavy rain. Cart paths are minimal; most players walk between holes along mown strips that cut between stands of sumac and low brush. The property once served as a tree farm, and the original planting rows are still visible on several fairways where the pines thin into straight, parallel lines. Maintenance is straightforward: the course is cut once or twice a week, bunkers are hand-raked, and irrigation is limited to the greens and a few dry spots on the approaches.
