Binks Forest occupies a former citrus grove site in central Wellington where the original grid of irrigation canals still guides play. The fairways follow the straight rows of the old orchard, interrupted by occasional diagonal crossings that create offset landing areas. Water runs along the right side of several holes and cuts diagonally across others, forcing players to choose between conservative lines that play away from the canals or aggressive routes that shorten distance at the cost of precision. The routing returns to the same clubhouse area twice, once after the outward nine and again at the finish, so wind direction can shift markedly between nines. Bermuda-grass greens are slightly crowned and slope toward the prevailing drainage, producing putts that break more than the surface contour suggests. Scattered live oaks left from the original grove provide intermittent shade but also create uneven lies when balls settle near their shallow root systems.
