Dunwoody Country Club, Atlanta, GA, Real Estate
Dunwoody Country Club occupies a 200-acre tract in northern DeKalb County, Georgia, where the land slopes gently from Chamblee-Dunwoody Road toward the Chattahoochee River floodplain. The golf course was designed by Joe Lee and opened in 1969; its layout follows the natural drainage of Nancy Creek, which crosses several fairways in engineered channels. Bermuda-grass fairways are bordered by stands of loblolly pine and water oaks, while bent-grass greens are set on subtle ridges that provide varied pin placements. Irrigation is drawn from on-site wells and a retention lake that also serves as a hazard on three holes. The clubhouse, a two-story brick structure completed in 1972, houses locker rooms, a grill, and a ballroom used for member events. Practice facilities include a 10-acre range with target greens and a short-game area adjacent to the first tee. The club maintains a staff of PGA professionals and groundskeepers who oversee daily course conditioning and tournament operations.
