Merrill Hills Country Club occupies gently rolling terrain northwest of downtown Waukesha. The course is routed through mature hardwood stands and open meadow, with fairways that bend around natural drainage swales. Several greens sit on small plateaus, their edges framed by deep bunkers and tight collars of bentgrass. A creek crosses the property three times, creating forced carries on both outward and inward nines. The practice facility includes a full-length range and a short-game area with multiple target greens. The clubhouse, built in the 1920s and later expanded, sits on a low rise overlooking the eighteenth green and provides locker rooms, a pro shop, and dining rooms finished in dark wood and muted wallpaper. Cart paths are asphalt and confined largely to the perimeter, keeping play primarily on grass.
