The layout follows gently rolling terrain shaped by glacial deposits, with fairways cut between stands of red and white pine that were planted on the property in the 1930s. Greens are bentgrass and are kept at moderate speed; most are slightly elevated with modest contouring rather than severe slopes. Water enters play on three holes, primarily as small ponds that guard approaches rather than run along entire fairways. The routing alternates between shorter, precision-oriented holes and a pair of longer two-shot holes that play into the prevailing westerly wind. Bunkers are modest in size and mostly positioned to catch shots pulled or sliced toward the tree lines. The course is owned and operated by the Village of Poynette and serves both local residents and travelers on nearby Interstate 39.
