Piedmont Driving Club Golf Course, Atlanta, GA, Real Estate
Piedmont Driving Club Golf Course is a private layout in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park area, designed in the late 19th century and later reworked by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and later by Rees Jones. The routing alternates between long, tree-lined corridors and more open, undulating stretches, with several holes that play along the park’s wooded perimeter. Elevation changes are modest but noticeable, particularly on the back nine, where subtle ridges create varied lies and force players to adjust club selection. Greens are generally firm and medium in size, with subtle contours that reward precise approach shots. Several fairways are bordered by mature hardwoods, while a handful of holes use strategic bunkering rather than length to define options off the tee. Water appears on three holes in the form of small ponds and a creek that crosses the lower section of the property. The overall presentation is understated, consistent with the club’s historic character and its emphasis on member play rather than tournament conditions.
