Scovill Golf Course occupies a gently rolling site that once formed part of the grounds of Millikin University’s former agricultural campus. Two distinct loops circle a central pond fed by Stevens Creek, and fairways alternate between open stretches and tighter corridors framed by mature oaks and hickories. The first nine plays across former pastureland with subtle elevation changes, while the back nine threads through wooded pockets and along the creek’s floodplain. Several holes require carries over the water or flanking wetlands, and a handful of elevated tees provide clear sight lines to greens that slope from back to front. Bunkers are modest in size but strategically placed to penalize approaches from the wrong side of the fairway. The course is maintained by the Decatur Park District and remains open year-round except during periods of heavy snow or prolonged flooding.
