Skyline Country Club sits in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains on Tucson's northwest side. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1962. Native desert vegetation frames most holes, and several fairways run along the edges of the natural desert preserve. Elevation changes are moderate but noticeable, particularly on the back nine where holes drop into and climb out of a series of arroyos. The greens are TifEagle bermudagrass overseeded with rye in winter. Water comes into play on four holes, most prominently on the par-4 seventh, which plays across a large lake that also serves as the irrigation reservoir. The practice facility includes a driving range with both natural grass and mats, a short-game area with multiple bunkers, and a putting green. Membership is private.
