Celebrate the season with Lincoln Park Zoolights

The Lincoln Park Zoo will be transforming its grounds for its annual winter tradition. Now in its 23rd year, Zoolights is a free, family-oriented holiday celebration showcasing luminous displays and winter activities. Stop by the Zoo between November 24th and January 7th to view the 2 million lights and more than 100 giant themed displays. Along with the colorful & bright decorations guests will enjoy ice carving demonstrations, cake decorating, pictures with Santa, light shows, holiday crafts, a forest of candy canes and light maze on select dates. Monday nights are family nights, kids eat free at the Park Place Cafe and everyone can enjoy free rides on the carousel and train. Additional special events and theme nights take place throughout the festival.

Libertyville's Holiday Tree Lighting

Libertyville's annual tree lighting and downtown holiday walk will take place this Friday, November 24th. Kick off the holiday season with music, singing and holiday entertainment while counting down to the lighting of the village tree. Santa will be available for photos, the Ansel B. Cook Mansion will be open for tours and downtown shops are offering extended hours. The fun begins at 6:30p.m. with the official lighting of the tree scheduled for 7:00 sharp.

Barrington's Scarecrow Festival

Barrington's 17 Annual Scarecrow Festival is Saturday, October 21, 2017. A free event held at Memorial Park (Hough & Lincoln Avenues) from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. It features free pumpkin, scarecrow and cookie decorating, pony rides, inflatable games, face painting and more activities throughout the day. Aurora is having a fall festival on Saturday, October 14 in downtown Aurora called Octo Street Fest. It is being held behind the New York Street's Restaurant Row on Phinney Street. Artists, musicians and street performers will come together for the afternoon. Pinney Street will be closed for the event during the hours of 2 to 7 pm. Libertyville's Lunch In The Park takes place every Friday in summer from 11:00-2:00 at Cook Park. Several local food vendors offer everything from pizza, burgers, brats and sandwiches to salads, wraps, tacos and kebobs. Enjoy the great food while gathering with friends and neighbors and listening to the live music provided by a different local band each week. There are also weekly raffles and balloon animals for the kids.

Libertyville's Farmers Market

The Libertyville Farmer's Market takes place every Thursday morning, 7:00a.m. - 1:00pm from June through October. The Farmer's Market is held at Cook Park in downtown Libertyville and features a wide variety of products grown, baked or made by 45 local vendors. Organic produces, local honey, fresh bread, flower bouquets, organic pet treats, and homemade sauces, jams and jellies are just a few of the offerings. You will also find free range and hormone free chicken, eggs, lamb and beef. Treat yourself to wood-fired pizza, kettle corn, crepes or fresh squeezed lemonade. Bring the whole family, the kids will enjoy the balloon twisting, body art and story time.
