Big Woods Park covers 120 acres of preserved woodland and prairie in west Batavia, with nearly three miles of paved and crushed-stone trails that connect to the Fox River Trail. The main loop passes through mature oak-hickory forest and open meadows, providing year-round opportunities for walking, jogging, and cross-country skiing. Picnic shelters, a playground, and a sledding hill are clustered near the parking area on Deerpath Road, while two fishing ponds stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources attract anglers. Restrooms and drinking fountains are available at both trailheads.
