Bridgewater Park occupies 26 acres on the northwest side of Champaign, bordered by Bradley Avenue and Duncan Road. A 1.2-mile paved loop trail circles the park’s two retention ponds and connects to the larger Champaign County Forest Preserve trail system. Picnic shelters, a playground with modular equipment, and two lighted tennis courts sit near the main parking lot, while a separate soccer field and open turf areas are available for pick-up games. Mature oak and maple trees line the water’s edge, providing shade for walkers and wildlife viewing. The park is less than one mile from Interstate 57 and the Marketplace shopping center, allowing residents to reach downtown Champaign or the University of Illinois campus in under ten minutes by car. Seasonal fishing is permitted in the larger pond, and the city stocks trout each spring.
