Centennial Park, Champaign, IL

Centennial Park in Champaign spans 170 acres and includes a 1.5-mile paved loop trail used for walking, jogging, and cycling. The park features a 35-acre lake that supports fishing and seasonal paddle-boating, with a boat launch and dock near the main parking area. Two playgrounds with equipment for different age groups sit beside open fields used for soccer, softball, and informal recreation. Picnic shelters equipped with tables and grills are available by reservation, and restrooms are located near the playgrounds and boat launch. Mature trees line much of the shoreline, providing shade along the trail and reducing wind exposure around the lake. The park connects directly to the city’s broader trail network, allowing residents to travel by bicycle or on foot to nearby schools, grocery stores, and the Champaign Public Library. Parking lots on both the north and south sides of the park accommodate vehicles and include designated accessible spaces.
