County Park in South Elgin covers 60 acres of open space along the Fox River. The park features three miles of paved trails that connect to the larger Fox River Trail system, allowing residents to walk or bike to other Kane County parks without driving. A 25-acre dog park includes separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, plus agility equipment and water stations. The park’s two fishing ponds are stocked annually by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and a boat launch provides access for kayaks and small watercraft. Picnic shelters, playgrounds, and restrooms are grouped near the main parking area, and the open fields are used for youth soccer leagues on weekends. Mature oak and hickory trees line the riverbank, offering shade along the trails and a buffer from nearby residential streets. The park entrance sits less than a mile from the South Elgin Metra station and within a ten-minute drive of the Randall Road retail corridor.
